Tournament Structure(s) [Template Added]

What kind of format are we going to use for the tournaments (single knockout, double knockout, etc)? I'm confused about how we're going to set it up without having people fight their own teammates occasionaly.

Once we've made a decision, I'll make some blank tournament templates that we can reuse, unless somebody else would rather do it or declares it unnecessary.

I'm thinking of two tournament types - Team, and Single.

Single Tournaments are teammate vs. teammate, enemy vs. enemy, everyone vs. everyone. Pretty much a basic, single elimination tournament.

Team Tournaments will be different. It starts off with each team member fighting another, randomly chosen team member. Whoever wins goes on to the next round, where each remaining team member will be paired with another rival, randomly.

Now, either two things could happen if the number becomes uneven. 1) The leftovers of the team with more participants are "reserves" and don't fight until the teams would be even. 2) We double team people, and pair them with CPUs. Two of my team members vs. one of Metaknights and a CPU.

Templates would be nice to have for the regular tournaments, though.

The CPU thing is a good idea.  but what if it gets extreemly uneven (like 1 vs 5).

Two people go (the two that were closest on the bracket or something) and go up against a CPU. If there's no one left after that, well, the team left over wins.

I have the template complete, but the problem is that I can't figure out how to put it up on here. It was made in Excel, so I don't know if it's even possible.

I think what I'll do is print it out, scan it onto the computer, save it as a jpeg, and then upload it as an image up to here. The problem with this is that I would be the only person that could update the template because the excel file is on my computer.

I guess I could upload the image, and then whoever wants to update it could put it into MS Paint and add text boxes.

edit: Here's what I have so far.

I had to use 16 boxes in the first round even though we only have 14 players. This means that 2 players would have to fight CPU's. This is to make it fair for all the levels of the tournament, so that one of the blocks wouldn't be able to skip a match.

Cool! We wouldn't even have to do the whole tournament the same day as long as we mark who won/lost down. Still working on the 14 members.
johnny139

Ah! I wouldn't have thought of putting CPUs in the Single-Man Tournament.

It shouldn't be to hard to modify if we get mor people.  We could also have team tournaments then a superbrawl.  Kinda like NFC and AFC play eachother in the superbowl.

You should give the winner a prize in the form of a title! Until the next tournament!

Thank you! I figured everyone is always after a unique Title,so if they win the Tournament they get a title until the next Tournament

Only problem with fighting a computer player is, they're pretty easy.  The level 9s are a bit of a dissapointment in Brawl.  I've played maybe, 5 matches against the level 9s and haven't had much trouble yet = (

The good thing is that now we won't have the need to fight against computers since we have 18 members. Only 16 people will be able to play in the tournament, so we'll have to take turns.
MadNik

The winner (current champion) should have some kind of championship belt that they keep in their sig.  When someone else wins, they delete it from the sig. and the new champ gets it lol

Like this I just made:

If worse comes to worse and we gain an extra member,we can randomly select one person to sit-out that one.

The other thing Im was wondering about was if we should have people be part of the spectator's. I love this option of the game and love watching other friends play each other. like in the second battle,if I was already knocked out. We could watch a battle between MetaKnight & Johnny. I think that would be really cool.
Lord Pyre

I don't know how spectator works, but I was thinking that one of the combatants could record the match and put it on Youtube or something...
Pattar007

If someone from my team needs to sit out, I'll volunteer.  I'm not getting Brawl till the 23rd.
Lord Pyre

...You could just not post....

Right now I'm just playing against 3 or 4's while figuring out all the characters. I did that with Melee, too. I don't focus on a main right away, just getting good with all of them...

Really?  Maybe I'm just getting lucky or something because it seems way too easy for some reason.  I went back to melee and played a match against 3 lvl 9s and lost horribly, but then in Brawl I won without losing any lives with some characters.
But anyways, did anyone like the belt? lol

I'm having trouble with 7's when I'm Meta knight. When I play as my old main, Sheik, they're a piece of frozen sorbet.
