Brawl is upon us. Well, not us... either "them" or "you" depending on whether or not you've got Brawl yet. And as such, I am celebrating the long life of it's father... Super Smash Bros. Melee!
For the past 25 Days, I've played as a different character each day, going through the whole roster. Each time I played Classic, and, if I felt like it, Adventure. Sometimes ever All-Star! 'twas a lot of fun, and some others from Brawl Central participated alongside me.
Today, I did something similar. From Dr. Mario to Roy, I played against their opposite, a Level 9, in vs. Mode. The stage used went from the top row across, to the second row across, to Battlefield. So, the first match was Dr. Mario (me) vs. Roy (CPU) on Icicle Mountain. The second, Mario (me) vs. Marth (CPU) on Princess Peach's Castle.
Following this, I had a flashback within a flashback. Using the Original 12, I played three four-way matches on the Past Stages, with only items that appeared in Smash 64 on. Also a lot of fun.
After all that fighting, I took a short break to look through my trophy collection - ALL of it. I read every single trophy description... very interesting, actually. Then I looked over my stats, old scores, the order I unlocked things (Dr. Mario was the first character I got!), and so on.
Multi-Man Melees were next... did Ten Man Melee with everyone, then Cruel Melee with everyone. Got at least 1 K.O. with every character! Hoo-rah!
Then, the penultimate challenges. Classic on Very Hard (three continues used, score of 448801), Adventure on Very Hard (three continues, score of 599201), and All-Star on Very Hard (too many continues to count, score of 329995), all with Mario. Helluva challenge, but with no pressure to not use continues, it was a lot of fun. Did you know you get a new event message, and instead of saying "CONGRATULATIONS!" the narrator says "WOW! INCREDIBLE!" It gave me goosebumps... because I realized that was the end. Well, not quite.
In the end, I went back to basics. Mario, Link, Pikachu, and Kirby, on Final Destination. Only Smash Bros. Original items in play. Ten stock. In the end, I had the Home Run Bat, and Link charged forward. He tossed a bomb. I used my Cape and knocked it back. I swung... and that was it. The end. I bid goodbye, and packed it away. Someday I shall return to it, as I have returned to Smash 64. But until that day... rest in peace, old friend. Rest in peace.

My friend is so bad. He just unlocked Roy 2 days ago. And Marth not too long ago. He's had it for years and he's so stoked for Brawl when he's not even close to beating melee. He's only on event 29 or something, because I got him there.
He's saying good bye to melee earlier than he should. Anyway, Brawl is awesome! The stages are awesome! I am glad we are putting Melee to rest, forever!
