Mario Kart comes out tomorrow in America and it looks cool.
My cousing in Germany said it is different than the others but the motion controls are the best.
If you guys get it, you can post your friend codes here and discuss the game!
Lord Pyre
I'm going out tomorrow to Target to pick up one of those $20 HS master sets.
I'll then go to Best Buy to use up my gift card I've had since Christmas.
Everything is going according to my plan..... Hehehe.....
johnny139
I'm going to buy it off the internet. Eventually.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
I'll get it tommorow. I plan to play as *SPOILER*
Rosalina.
*SPOILER*
I hope the game gets released soon, because then I don't have to do that.

She was in a bunch of IGN videos. I was surprised, since she was only in one game.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
Yeah, but she's a major character in that one game. I liked her, so she is who I'm playing as.
I'd be more upset about Baby Daisy, though. I'm not putting that in spoilers for a reason... it's so we can all laugh at that, and then make conspiracy theories as to why she's in.
johnny139
Guys, it's Mario Kart. If anyone HONESTLY gives a damn about spoilers, they need to go outside more.
Personally, I'll be "maining" Waluigi in the Piranha Prowler.
Lord Pyre
You mean Ro*Gets shot*
Hehe... Ive known about all the playable characters quite a while ago. I've never cared with Mario Kart.
Heroic Monkey
I won't buy it right away because I have other things I want (wave 8, AA, TJ! ). But when I do get it my main character will be
Spoiler:
Luigi
Just kidding... I think it's a little silly to pick a main character in a game like MK. Why not be all of them?
Please don't throw tomatoes at me...
dragonfire
Johnny. Make a forum for Mario Kart wii.
MetaNite
Please say Dry Bones is in the game! He was my main in Kart DS and he rocks!
Heroic Monkey
According to the link below, Dry Bones is in the game as well as
Does anyone really care about spoilers? I found all the characters, I'm a little shocked at all the random ones.
dragonfire
im not happy with the roster. Its too small. This is Brawl all over again.
Its ok if Dry Bowser and Baby Daisy were out and Petey parana and Paratroop were in instead. And if there was like 24 more characters! And like 30 more tracks. And like 20 more karts. And more battle modes.
I got the game, its good, but not as good as the DS one.

It's way better. Better graphics, courses, and wifi. 16 characters + karts and motorcycles is a lot for a racing game. It's pretty good. I love the wifi!
johnny139
I'm very happy with the roster. The ONLY thing I'd like to do is nix Baby Daisy, add in Petey Piranha, and mess around with the weight classes a bit. Dry Bones (Small) should switch with Bowser Jr. (Medium); Diddy, with Baby Daisy gone, should be small, Rosalina should be bumped down to medium, and Petey Piranha would fill the gap she left. THAT would be perfect, but currently, it's very good.
Also, a Double Dash option (two in one karts) would be killer, but that would have never happened.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
I agree with Johnny. I like the rooster. The only character that is completely unecessary is Baby Daisy. Does anyone actually play as her?
DarkWolf
I don't have the game
It's cool that they have Mii though. Or so Heroic Monkey's link said... is it just a random Mii or something or can you choose a Mii you made or something?
Lord Pyre
Just picked it up. Unfortunately, Target had nothing HS related in the entire store.
I'll try Mario Kart later tonight, though.
DarkWolf
Aww everyone's getting Mario Kart! No fair! I want Mario Kart!
That sucks that they had nothing HS. :/

Bloody the Marro Stinger
1 star on all 50cc cups, and I got Rosalina. So as of current my character line up looks like this:
Mario
Luigi
Peach
Yoshi
Baby Mario
Baby Peach
Baby Daisy
Koopa Troopa
Toad
Diddy Kong
Rosalina
King Boo
Bowser
Donkey Kong
Wario
Waluigi
Pretty good, as I just got the game today.
MetaNite
Really good. Me and my sister were on wifi for 2 hours.
Was Baby Daisy even in a game? I know Dry Bowser was if anybody was wondering. Super Mario Bros 3. Bowser goes into fire, you think you win, and out come dry bowser. All bony.

Yeah, I knew dry bowser, too.
I unlocked Kind Boo last night! Unlocking things are a lot harder in this game, than in SSBB, I've noticed. Kinda nice; SSBB was disappointingly easy in unlockables.
Erm... why are we talking about the playable characters and asking if some are in the game if Heroic Monkey posted this link for us
It shows all the characters...

Actually, Dry Bowser didn't appear in Super Mario Bros. 3. He appeared in New Super Mario Bros. Just a nitpick.
I noticed that too, but you get a fourth of the characters just by getting one star on all the 50cc cups if you have Super Mario Galaxy. The 50cc at least is dissapointingly easy. I got 1 star at least on all of those... on my first try. That's not to say I dislike the game, but I am dissapointed in that easiness. Hopefully they get harder later.
As for King Boo, yeah, he's going to be the first character you unlock, easily.

Sorry, got them mixed up. The wifi is starting to get annoying. I'm really good, but I'm in first, get hit by a shell, then next I know I'm in 8th! Then I end up being in like 6th at the end of the game. It's so annoying. I suck with the motion controls. I use the classic controller. I also know that 150cc is very hard.
Lord Pyre
Okay, how the %^&* do you get a star?!?!? I've gotten first numerous times, yet I still have a B rating.

You have to get a really good time, and not get anything but first every race. It's hard.
DarkWolf
Dang.... I so want this game.
It sounds so fun... and last night Monkey and I watched some videos... now I want it so badly... I've sadly never owned any Mario Kart games, though I have played them and wanted them.

And 64 once, but that was so darn long ago...

You have to get a really good time, and not get anything but first every race. It's hard.
That is FALSE.
It certainly has to do with getting first in every race - don't do that and you'll never get a three star rank. However, you can get the 1 and 2 star ranks as long as you get in 1st in MOST of the races. You can accidentally screw up on one or two as long as you're still close to 1st and still get 1 or 2 stars.
What really matters when trying to get them is minimizing how much you get hit. If you keep on slamming into walls or fall off the course carelessly, your chances of getting one reduce. Moreover, if you're playing a course with hazards, you also need to avoid those. Not only that, but you also have to get a good time on all the courses - it doesn't really matter how far ahead you are of the computer, though that helps.
It's actually a lot easier then it sounds. I've gotten at LEAST 1 star on the first try of every cup I've been doing. I was hoping for an increase in challenge in 100cc, but I was dissapointed. Use Funky or Rosalina and use Wheelies well and you leave everyone in the dust unless they decide to turn their item haxing antics up a notch, and even then, you can still win. If you prefer karts, use a light/medium character and try to get yourself into a situation where you can use the orange drift. If you like bikes, use heavy characters since they have the best bikes (Wario Bike is my favorite, personally) and use Wheelies whenever you have the chance. Seriously, Wheelies are awesome.
As for my progress, only one more 50cc cup to go, and I unlocked Funky Kong, Dry Bones, and Baby Luigi.

Nitpicker. Sorry. I wasn't 100% false. You do want good time and winning races is important. I've only gotten a star when I won every race.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
Seriously? I've once got in 4th in the last race in the Special Cup 100cc and still got 2 stars. In fact, I did BETTER rank wise than I did in the Star Cup 100cc (I got 1 star there), despite the fact that in the Star Cup 100cc I did win every race. I tell you, it's a paradox.
But yeah, your best chances come from winning all the races. But be aware that you can screw up and still win.
Dartheyegouger
I don't know what ranks I have, but I've beaten all the 50cc cups and Mushroom cup on 100cc.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
You can check what ranks you have by putting the cursor over a cup in the desired engine class and looking at the bottom. Look for the star(s) or letter.
I got Birdo and Bowser Jr. today, and am on the 150cc. In fact, if my brother lets me on tonight, I'll beat 150cc Special Cup and likely get a star rank, thus getting Dry Bowser and Daisy. Then the last character I need to unlock is Toadette.
Lord Pyre
I suck at this game. 100cc is almost impossible to win....
But I beat the 50cc easily enough. I've gotten Boo, Mii A, and Diddy. I'm working on Dry bones, now.

You cheated; that's impossible.
Actually, I'm getting better. Last night I got a gold trophy on all of the 100cc except for the two middle Wii courses. Those I got silver...
But I've never gotten a star. I think I got an A once, but it's usually a B-C.

I think its easy. Bloody, you were so right. If you don't hit the side, or cars, a lot you get a really good score! I still got first each race though.
Lord Pyre
If I don't win, but still miss cars and the walls, will I get a good score?
MetaNite
Lord Pyre wrote:

According to Bloody, you don't have to get 1st every time, but I really doubt you'll get higher than a C without winning the grand prix.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
You have to win the tournament (in other words, get the highest amount of points), but you can screw up on one race and get 2nd-4th to get 1 or 2 stars. To get three stars, though, you HAVE to win all of them. However, you only need to get 1 to unlock the guys.
I can now chalk up Dry Bowser and Daisy to my unlocked list, making Toadette the last racer to unlock. In addition, I'm close too - only 8 more fast staff ghosts unlocked and Toadette and the Mii second outfit are MINE!
As for cups, only 2 more in 150cc to go, and then I unlock mirror mode.
Lord Pyre
I heard that there was a third Mii costume, also.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
There are only two, I think.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
Well, I got my first three star rank (all I have gotten before were twos mostly, with a few ones here and there) after brutally murdering the computers in Rainbow Road in the Mirror Special Cup. I quite literally beat King Boo by 40 seconds... and King Boo got in second place.
Edit: And then later in the same day I beat all the Mirror cups, only not getting a star rank on one (which I promptly replayed and got 2 stars on). Now I have absolutely everything!
In case you're wondering, the last thing I unlocked was the Blue Falcon.
Lord Pyre
Captain Falcon would be proud.

I'm hoping that tomorrow I get Mario Kart Wii and a steering wheel (commercial says game comes with one, so then we'd have 2, which I think is all we would need for now. Plus, I'd just have a steering wheel all for myself) or just Mario Kart Wii. It's me birthday party tomorrow. PARTY, not birthday, and my mom says she went and bought my present earlier today, using my Wish list I made, with Mario Kart Wii as the thing I wanted the most. I already have what I really want... and couldn't really think of something (there was something that I wanted, I believe, but I couldn't find my wish list and then I forgot what it was), so I decided I'd like to have Mario Kart Wii. Yay! I do hope I get it tomorrow. Talk talk talk. Talk. Talk. Talk talk, talk talk talk talk talk, talk talk talk, talk, talk. I tink I talkin' too much. But anyways, I'm expecting to get Mario Kart Wii tomorrow, and I can't wait. I'm really hoping that we're going to see Iron Man though, because we're already going to Boomers, so going to see Iron Man on top of that would be pretty expensive. My mom said she'd think about it, but I'm really hoping to see Iron Man... seems so good... my friend already saw it yesterday, and he said it was so awesome. In fact, he thought it was so awesome, when I asked him if he was sure he wanted to see it again, he said, "Heck yeah!!" Oops... there I go again. Talk talk talk. I talk too much. Woopsies. So sorry, heh.
MetaNite
You may not want to buy a second wheel right away. I almost garentee you, you'll be better without motion controls. I'm still not used to them, and wifi will be brutal.
Heroic Monkey
I'd use the Wii remote and nunchuck if I had the game.

I used the wheel right away, and fell in love with it. It's all up to personal preference. I haven't even tried any other type of control.
And of course the parents like it more if there's gimmicks...
My dad even tried it, and he's never touched the Wii, and I got it around Christmas of '06.
DarkWolf
Well, me like steering wheel. No, I don't have the game yet. I just like it. Me likey. It cool. Well, yesterday my mom and dad decided, no Iron Man. Oh well, at least I am going to Boomers... for 5 hours! Yay! I get used to new controls easily, so I am pretty sure I will like the steering wheel. I can't wait to open my presents.. I don't know what they are, but I'm hoping my mom bought me Mario Kart Wii.
*EDIT* lol, I forgot to edit.
There was a misunderstanding. We could have gone to Iron Man.
(but we decided no, if we went to Iron Man, a 2 hour movie, then we would only have 1 hour of Boomers, because of the drive there and back and stuff. So we stayed at Boomers and played for 6 hours instead. A couple days ago, the last Saturday from this Edit, May 10, we went to see Iron Man instead. IT WAS AWESOME, as I have said before.
P.S. IT'S AWESOME)

It's still not my birthday, just my birthday party. But I'm not giving away personal information and telling when my birthday is, but you could assume my birthday is close enough since it is my b-day party... so It would probably be the best day to say happy birthday. I'm making this paragraph as long as possible. By just talking more and more. Like I am right now. I don't know why I am doing that though. I'm just making it longer for some reason, and I don't know why. I just keep on talking and talking to make it longer, for no apparent reason.

Now that I know how hard unlocking stuff is, I'm shocked that Bloody unlocked so much in such a short time! How on Earth did you do that? I'm having such a hard time getting star ranks and coming in first place on the 150cc cups (still trying to get the Mirror cups unlocked)!
I think the game is being unreasonable. Is it really my fault that I keep getting hit by shells?
Can anyone recommend karts/bikes that worked well for you?
DarkWolf
Bullet Bike! Classic Dragster! Offroader! Heh... I can't offer any advice really, still haven't gotten any far in the game, been doing a bunch of other stuff. Say Iron Man today, and OMG IT WAS FRICKIN' AWESOME!!!!
All I got so far is:
Baby Daisy
Birdo
Diddy Kong
Dry Bones
King Boo
Mii (Outfit A)
Rosalina
Toadette
(And I'm working on Baby Daisy, almost done. Woulda been done if we didn't go see Iron Man then Brawl)
Leaf Cup
Lightning Cup
Special Cup
Star Cup
only for 50cc and 100cc though, still haven't done much on 150cc. As I said, I haven't been playing much.
Magikruiser
Shooting Star
Zip Zip
Piranha Prowler
Tiny Titan
Super Blooper
Which means I still need to unlock:
Baby Luigi
Bowser Jr.
Dry Bowser
Funky Kong
Mii (Outfit B)
Leaf Cup, Lightning Cup, Special Cup, and Star Cup for 150cc
Mirror Mode
Bubble Bike
Dolphin Dasher
Nitrocycle
Phantom
Quacker
Torpedo
Aero Glider
B Dasher Mk 2
Blue Falcon
Cheep Charger
Dragonentti
Rally Romper
Royal Racer
Unlocking stuff is pretty hard... Bloody made it seem 100x easier.
IRON MAN IS SO FRICKIN' AWESOMMMMEEEEE!!! :O OFF TOPIC!

I completely demolished the competition with Rosalina on a Wario Bike. Do some time trials with Rosalina/Funky/other heavy character and use the Wario Bike and learn to use wheelies well and often. Once you do that, the computers are history. You get haxed by the computers less in this game for some reason (at least in my game you do), so one blue shell will make you still be miles ahead of everyone. Small or Medium characters work too, but they have too many bikes with high drifts (which is terrible for Manual, and is only good on Automatic) for my liking.
The trick is to memorize each course so that you know where each pit or wall is so you don't drop or hit them. Items that hit you don't count towards your grade, so you can get a star rank every time by making sure you never hit anything. That's what did the trick for me, as I got a star rank on my first time through for everything but the Flower Cup 150cc, which I replayed and got a 2-Star rank on - blame Wario's Mines for not getting it the first time.
Heroic Monkey

I did all of that for my 100cc Shell Cup (lol, I suck. Only rank A's and B's over and over for Shell Cup) Memorized everything, became excellent with wheelies. I finally got 2 stars on my 4th try. (my 2nd try, my little brother walked in front of screen, couldn't see for a while, and then hit a banana because of that. 3rd try, everyone ganged up on me! Again! They beat me into a pulp! I had to buy a million new bikes to continue the race!) Too bad I hadn't remembered your advice about Heavy char and Wario Bike.

Yes, it requires a separate MK Wii code if you want to play with friends. There is also a very fun "anyone" mode online. Unlike Brawl, this game has no lag on Wifi.

Actually, it sounds like you did very well there, even without the heavy character/Wario Bike (actually, most of the heavy character bikes work well. The only ones that don't are the Torpedo and Standard Bike - the Flame Runner is good if you use automatic, since it cuts corners like a knife cuts butter on automatic, Wario Bike is good because of the acceleration, the Phantom is the alternative for the Wario Bike, and the Twinkle Star has high Mini-Turbo, which is rare for bikes). You don't actually have to use the heavy character/bike thing, but I find that they work the best with bikes since only two of their bikes suck - the Torpedo is just an inferior Flame Runner, and the Standard Bike is an inferior everything else. I'm sure there's a good light character/medium character bike too, but I prefer heavies. Remember, don't pick any kart with high drift and if you pick a bike with one (like the Flame Runner), use automatic!
I'm going to give a guess and say you didn't get in first place for EVERY race, though, since that's the only way to get 3 stars, but it sounds like you did well - I wouldn't worry too much about getting 3 stars until after you unlock everything, and whatever you're using looks like it works judging by the rank. I can usually get 60 points in a cup, but I hate it when you get blue-shelled over a gap... that usually messes me up on that race, since you also have to beat them by a good amount on average (my only three star as of current is on Mirror Special Cup, due to brutally murdering everyone on Rainbow Road. I could probably get more if I paid more attention to the game right now, though. Mostly focusing on Mystery Dungeon 2 at the moment), and you usually can't do that if someone uses a Blue Shell on you OVER A GAP.
Okay, allow me to step on the soapbox for a second. I've found that this game item haxes you less in all aspects except for one. This game has a heavy emphasis on tricks, usually over big gaps of certain doom. The opponents on 150cc and Mirror have some strange obession with hitting you with a blue shell at least once per cup while you go over a gap. It rarely happens on every race even there, but I can garuntee you it will usually happen at least once every cup. This can screw you up... badly. Of course, you only have to worry about this while playing the harder cups, and sometimes it doesn't happen at all, making for an easy win. Off my soapbox.
Anyways, I played Mario Kart Wii for the first time in about a week or two, and all I did was beat the Fast Staff Ghost on Moonview Highway. Not impressive at all, nope...

No. I 90% of the time get 60 points, and on that one I believe I got 60. I just not good enough to get 3 stars.

Here's a tip for anyone trying to unlock the Fast Staff Ghosts: use the Bullet Bike. I am blown away at how good it is in time trials.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
While that can work, I have more success with the Wario Bike, and advanced players can even use the Flame Runner (with Automatic and proper turning, it can actually turn faster then power sliding). Those two are absolutely insane. Rosalina and Funky both give a buff to speed, and Funky actually gives a +2 to speed, making him the best character to use in time trials. Rosalina is no slouch either, with a +1 in speed and +1 in mini turbos. The stats really don't matter while doing a real race, but in Time Trials they can make all the difference.

That's always been my favorite for Time Trials since day 1.
I've always used the Bullet Bike for Time Trials, and sometimes just trying out some others.
But Bullet Bike has always been my favorite bike until I learned about more, like the Wario Bike. But Bullet Bike is still my favorite for Time Trials.
Thanks for the advice anyways!
Yesterday I got Baby Luigi. So cute ^_^ Well, now I have all the small characters.
Heroic Monkey
The Wario Bike and Flame Runner are good ones too, but I just can't seem to get ahead of the ghost with them. Maybe it's because I'm a moron and I'm always bonking into walls even though I know they're there.

Heck, even if you bump into walls with the Wario Bike, it won't screw you up extremely badly, due to it's high acceleration. It will with any other bike, though... most of them have low acceleration.
Anyways, a few more tips, this time stage specific! Let's start with Moonview Highway, which I've beaten the Fast Staff Ghost on (and no, I won't reveal everything, of course. Figure that out yourself - I've got a record to boast about. Sorry)...
Moonview Highway:
1st lap: The second the race starts, come right off the bat with a wheelie. Do a power-slide down the first and second curve, and DON'T TAKE THE RAMP. Instead, stay on the street. If you did the first part correctly, you'll have enough room to do a wheelie due to the posistioning of the trucks, so do it (the ghosts don't wheelie here). Drift past the next curve, being careful to dodge the first "danger car" (this one passes by the right). There's more, but I'm not telling. Even without that, though, you should still pass the regular ghost by a fair margin - I unlocked the Fast Staff Ghost with moderately basic tactics here and STILL was only 2 seconds away from beating the Fast one. Note that between here and the tip for the second lap, the second and third "danger cars" show up.
2nd/3rd lap: When you get to the final part of the highway (right at the curve with the boosts in it past the boost part in the highway), take the right lane. There are no cars here if you get here at the right time, so you're home free. The same thing actually applies to the third lap, though.
Next up is Grumble Volcano. Note that the Fast Staff Ghost here isn't beaten by me yet, but I'll beat it eventually. Because of that, I'm going to reveal what I know about the course... nothing to boast about yet here in terms of the Fast Staff Ghost, after all.
1st/2nd lap: The ground hasn't blown itself up yet, and it won't until the third lap if you're fast enough. Wheelie right off the bat and you'll probably gain a good lead. When you come to the crossroads in the cave, choose the right path - it's shorter for some reason. The next part is straightfoward - go past the moving platforms and take the right path (boy, this stage is straightforward in it's choices...). Hit the ramp and do a trick, aiming for the dirt. Because you did a trick, the dirt won't slow you down, making you cut the next corner. At the final crossroads, choose the right path for the THIRD TIME (whoever made this so straightfoward I'm going to kick. I swear). Don't use the ramp at the right path here for a trick - do a power-slide and ignore the trick boost, since you'll do suicide if you use the trick boost. The 2nd lap is the same thing, since you presumably did this fast enough.
3rd lap: The ground has finally imploded upon itself, so it gets a bit trickier. It's still nothing to be too worried about, though - the path is pretty much the same as before, just narrower.
MetaNite
I beat that ghost data differently. I got a mini boost going onto the ramp in the second lap and that's what really put me ahead.
DarkWolf
I beat the normal ghost on Grumble Volcano easily... just don't remember how. But I went left to much.
Thanks (for the millionth time) for the tips, Bloody! You rock! I thought I might have some trouble with Moonview Highway (I haven't tried yet though), but when I do Moonview Highway I will try my best to use your tips. Thanks again!
Heroic Monkey
Today I finished the time trials. I have all the expert staff ghosts and Mii Outfit B. I did all the races with the Bullet Bike (with the exception of SNES ghost course, which I did with the Flame Bike).
Bloody the Marro Stinger
Also today, I just beat the Toad's Factory Fast Staff Ghost. 2 down, 30 more to go!
Let me tell you right now, the Toad's Factory one is hard if you don't bring in a high top speed bike. Even then, you have to make sure you aren't beating him by too much when you get to the second lap, lest you get nailed by that thingy that squishes people at the first conveyor.
Grumble Volcano's Fast Staff Ghosts gives me fits (not literally, as I've come close to beating him... just not close enough)... he uses a Spear on the thing with near perfect drifting, which should give anyone fits already. Then he adds mini-turbos to the equation, which makes him a pain, never mind the fact that he can actually do a trick at the second to last ramp in the place and not die.

Today I unlocked Dry Bowser. I got one star on the first two Wii Cups, 2 stars on the third Wii cup, and three stars on the fourth Wii Cup (not sure how I got three stars...I fell into the lava once). I did all these cups with the Bullet Bike.
Now I need to unlock the Mirror Cups.

This game looks great! Once I pay off my Heroscape Debts (Wave 8 ), I'm so buying this...or a shooting game. Wii doesn't have very many.

See? What did I tell you guys? Getting star ranks are really easy once you know how.
Now I just need to get my Wi-Fi up and face Heroic Monkey in a race.
DarkWolf
Well, I've unlocked:
Characters
Baby Daisy
Baby Luigi
Birdo
Bowser Jr.
Daisy
Diddy Kong
Dry Bones
Dry Bowser
Funky Kong
King Boo
Mii (Outfit A)
Rosalina
Toadette
Courses
Leaf Cup
Lightning Cup
Special Cup
Star Cup
for 50cc, 100cc, 150cc, and Mirror Mode.
Stuff Next to Your Name during Online Play
Golden Wii Wheel
and very close to 1 star
Karts and Bikes Version
100cc(Karts and Bikes)
50cc(Karts and Bikes)
Bikes
Jet Bubble (small)
Dolphin Dasher (medium)
Magikruiser (small)
Phantom (large)
Quaker (small)
Shooting Star (large)
Sneakster (medium)
Spear (large)
Zip Zip (medium)
Without even trying I got 2 stars on 150cc Flower Cup and 1 star in 150cc Special Cup. I was just trying to win them to unlock some bikes, but I ended up getting a star on one and 2 stars on the other. Helped me unlock Dry Bowser. I unlocked Mirror Mode, not hard. I got 1st place in all Mirror Mode except for 1 silver, and those were only on my first tries. I don't know if I got any stars on them, but I have A's and B's and a couple C's and D's.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
Well, yesterday I did two things. The first was to get at least two stars at all 50cc cups, so I'm one step closer to getting a 2/3 star rank next to my name. The second was to beat the Fast Staff Ghosts at Delfino Square (DS), Mario Circuit (Wii), and Koopa Cape. Out of those, Koopa Cape is by far the hardest - there are so many ways to screw up at the end part there. Here's a tip for anyone who wants to do it - don't wheelie at the final part before you exit the pipe where there's two spinning things until you pass the first and are confident you won't hit the second. Hitting the second means that you lose.
Delfino Square (DS) is the easiest, since it's another kart user you're facing, and a slow one at that. I beat the opponent by almost 2 seconds and the only reason I didn't beat him by more was because I slammed into a wall by accident, and he STILL didn't pass me when I whacked myself with the wall. You should have no trouble with that one.
Out of that list, DarkWolf, I have everything except the Golden Wheel (never use the wheel anyways) and the 2 and 3 star rank next to my name. I guess I need to give my late congratulations to Heroic Monkey and DarkWolf also! Good job, guys!
MetaNite
I beat the Delfino Plaza ghost data by 5.5 seconds! I used my mushrooms to go to the shortcut right before the bridge to get onto the pier.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
I'm talking about the FAST Staff Ghost data, not the REGULAR Staff Ghost data. The Fast one uses the shortcut too, so there's no way you could beat the Fast one by 5.5 seconds.

Wow, nice. But after all, you are very excellent at many games, especially this one. How do you so well?
And thank you, too. ^_^
It's pretty hard when you're still kinda a beginner, but once you get the game down, unlocking stuff can be fun and easy! I just have trouble with Time Trials for some reason, though. It's so nice to look at all the things crossed off on my list to unlock, lol.
MetaNite wrote:

Nice, congratulations!
(I think there was more I was going to say somewhere, but I must've forgotten. Dang it, I hate my memory and I hate it when that happens, lol)
Bloody the Marro Stinger
DarkWolf, you're also doing well from what I gather, and you're not too far away from unlocking everything - you're doing good too Metaknight (even though you haven't beat any Fast Staff Ghost Data yet... that being said, beating the regular one by 5.5 seconds is good too)!
As for why I'm so good, I don't really know. I've always been playing really well in most games, though... it must be that I catch on to strategies quickly or something.
Anyways, I beat the Fast Staff Ghosts at Peach Beach (GCN) and Desert Hills (DS). Desert Hills is pretty difficult (darn you, Dry Bones and your silly yet effective mushroom spot) - I'm amazed that I managed to beat it with the same time difference from me and the Fast Staff Ghost as Delfino Square - I beat both Fast Staff Ghosts by 1.8 seconds. I tried all of the Lightning Cup ones too, but those are pretty difficult - I'm horrible with Flame Runner type drifts as opposed to Heroic Monkey (who uses a Bullet Bike, which has a Flame Runner drift style), and most of the stages there require that drift. So for the record, I currently have beaten 7 Fast Staff Ghosts. 1 more, and I've beaten 1/4 of them!
DarkWolf
Bloody the Marro Stinger wrote:

I used Bullet Bike on day 1, long before heroic Monkey!
Well, I beat normal staff ghost on DS Delfino Square by 15 seconds, and I didn't use the shortcut for lap 1. I easily beat him without shortcuts at all before and unlocked the fast staff ghost, but then when you guys talked about a shortcut (which I didn't know about), I wanted to try and see what I would get.
Well, no wonder I was stumped and stopped trying Time Trials for a while! I was doing the hard ones, lol. What am I thinking... -.-
In the last few minutes, I beat and unlocked fast staff ghosts on the following:
SNES Mario Circuit 3
DS Peach Gardens
N64 Bowser's Castle
DS Delfino Square (improved by 5-10 seconds or so, due to shortcuts)
Dry Dry Ruins
and I am still continuing to try more! I just wanted to come here and check on new posts and post this and STUFF.
The ones I were trying was Coconut Mall and Wario's Gold Mine (which I stupidly made the same mistakes over and over on (WGM) so i predicted what would happen 10 seconds before I fell or bumped into something) and DS Yoshi Falls which will be one of the last ones. Something happened yesterday that was unfair, though, lol. I was helping my little sister unlock stuff, so I started out with the Time Trial (easy) ones, like Birdo and Toadette and Magikruiser and Funky Kong, well, you know. So when I was doing Wario's Gold Mine for her, I easily beat the staff ghost and unlocked the fast staff ghost, without even trying. How come that couldn't happen to me?
Bloody the Video Game Expert wrote:

Why... *sniff*... thank you... that... makes me feel... SO SPECIAL!
Yeah, I'm pretty pleased with myself.
Although I'm not nearly as good as you, which would be nearly impossible to be as good as you, I am pleased with myself. Only 2 karts and 1 character to unlock. (and the stars by nickname during online play, but that doesn't matter much)
I never knew that when I got to it, I could type as much stuff as you, Bloody, in a single post.
DarkWolf
Got a couple more done. Now I have at least 2 fast staff ghosts unlocked in every cup.
Mushroom Cup, Lightning Cup, and Star Cup completed. (which is 12 fast staff ghosts right there)
Luigi Circuit
Moo Moo Meadows
Mushroom Gorge
Toad's Factory
Daisy Circuit
Koopa Cape
Maple Treeway
Grumble Volcano
Mario Circuit
DK Summit
Dry Dry Ruins
Bowser's Castle
GCN Peach Beach
N64 Mario Raceway
DS Desert Hills
GBA Bowser Castle 3
GCN Mario Circuit
DS Delfino Square
GCN Waluigi Stadium
SNES Mario Circuit 3
DS Peach Gardens
GCN DK Mountain
N64 Bowser's Castle
Note: I did NOT unlock these just now or today, these are the overall fast staff ghosts I have unlocked ever since I got the game.
I just barely unlocked the fast staff ghost for GCN Waluigi Stadium.
Unlock Time: 2.24.645
My Time: 2.24.166
Took me two tries to unlock the fast staff ghost, the first one was 2.27 something. Quite tricky, but not too hard.
Only a 1 more to unlock and I will get the Sprinter! Yay!
But what I really want is Mii (Outfit B). Just so I have the great feeling of having unlocked all the characters. In my opinion, Outfit A is better.
DarkWolf
Well, I did it. N64 DK's Jungle Parkway beaten. Really easy. Didn't even need to use the mushrooms.
So now I have also completely beaten (meaning I have unlocked all the fast staff ghosts) Leaf Cup, too.
The Sprinter is mine! Hahaha!
Only 1 more Kart to unlock, and it's not THAT hard, but a little tricky.
(Aero Glider, Large)
and now only the ones I have trouble with left...
Coconut Mall
Moonview Highway
Rainbow Road
DS Yoshi Falls
SNES Ghost Valley 2
N64 Sherbet Land (I think, not sure... I'll have to try it soon sometime)
GBA Shy Guy Beach (I think, not sure... I'll have to try it soon sometime)
Bloody the Marro Stinger
Aw, don't call me an expert. I'm just another video game player. I'm a good one, sure, but I don't think I'm an expert.
About the three you were having trouble with (excluding Wario's Gold Mine, but I included it anyways), only Yoshi's Falls was difficult for me out of all the ones you said. I don't know what I was doing wrong there... and I still don't. Fortunately, it has an extremely generous unlock time for the Fast Staff Ghost - beat the regular one by a second and a half and you get it right there. Wario's Gold Mine has a shortcut - follow the minecarts when they leave the final stretch and if you're quick, you reach a ramp with booster pads. Coconut Mall is really easy - at the final part when you go up the ramp after the last fountain, when you see the booster pad in the middle, head right instead to reach a shortcut.

Ah. Yes. Thanks once again for the advice, video game.. player. I knew about those shortcuts, guess I just suck. xD
Yeah, I beat Wario's Gold Mine on my little sisters license by 10-15 seconds, and I haven't tried again after that. I guess I will.
Bloody the Video Game God wrote:

As I said, I knew about that shortcut, just didn't know it was an actual shortcut (thought it was, but wasn't really sure). There is another shortcut too, which I learned about yesterday.
Thanks Bloody, I'ma try them out now!

Suck? You? Nah. You almost have everything in this game, and that's good enough.
I just noticed you have Ghost Valley 2 (SNES) on there. That and Yoshi Falls (DS) are the ones I had the most trouble unlocking the Fast Staff Ghosts for. There's really nothing I can suggest for Ghost Valley 2, other than to Wheelie when provided. There's also a ramp early on that you can use for a shortcut, but it can be difficult to use, so be wary. You're going to have to use it if you want to win, though.

Okay.. cool. Thanks. You rock!
Time to go racing.
I'll edit this and tell say how I did, so this won't be a small and completely useless and waste of space post.
*EDIT UPDATE*
I also now easily beat Wario's Gold Mine and unlocked the fast staff ghost. Kicked Wario's butt, just like on my little sister's license.
Now I'm going to try SNES Ghost Valley 2, and also try to find that ramp.
*EDIT UPDATE*
Found the ramp, and I won. So close to unlocking the fast staff ghost, but I didn't. Me sad. Well, now I'll try again.
*EDIT UPDATE*
Yay, I unlocked the fast staff ghost for SNES Ghost Valley 2. Last time I was doing it wrong, I was doing a trick when I went up the ramp, making it take much longer to turn, so it actually slowed me down. But now I won... thanks so much Bloody, would've never noticed that ramp if you hadn't pointed it out!
Much more relieved now that I know you only have to beat Yoshi by 1 seconds in DS Yoshi Falls. Going try that one now though. Somehow Heroic Monkey got 4 seconds ahead of DS Yoshi Falls... If only I was as good as him.
*EDIT UPDATE*
Yay! I did it! I unlocked the fast staff ghost for DS Yoshi Falls! It took me a while, but I figured out the secret. You can beat the normal staff ghost by 4 or 5 seconds. All you do is take the first speed boost, then turn right towards the water and use a mushroom to go across, then turn left and take all the rest of the speed boosts remaining. You can get a little over a second ahead of him each time you do it, especially the first lap when he takes all the speed boosts and the ramp. I would've gotten 4 seconds ahead, but I messed up and let go when I was drifting once, ruining my mini turbo boost I was almost done creating.
*EDIT UPDATE*
I beat Shy Guy Beach and Sherbet Land now. I kicked butt in Sherbet Land... like 15 or 20 seconds ahead. If I fell, I would've still unlocked the fast staff ghost. I think I could've still unlocked the fast staff ghost if I fell twice!
I had to bring out the Dolphin Dasher for GBA Shy Guy Beach. The Bullet Bike just doesn't have enough off-road, and to me Dolphin Dasher is like a medium version of the Bullet Bike, but with more off-road and a little less speed.
Now the only ones I have to worry about are the hardest for me, Moonview Highway and Rainbow Road.
*EDIT UPDATE*
Oh, no wait, that was super easy. I kicked butt on Moonview Highway, didn't really need the mushrooms and I missed one speed boost. Now I only have Rainbow Road, which is pretty much impossible for me. Oh well, practice makes perfect. but now is the time for the practice...
*EDIT UPDATE*
DANG IT! In the second lap, I was beating her by 5 seconds. Sometime in the 3rd lap, I was beating her by 10 seconds. Then in the 3rd lap close to the end, I fell off.
I tried again, 2nd and 3rd lap I was beating her by 5 seconds, then near the end I fell off. >.<
I'm usually pretty good at Rainbow Road in races, but when it comes to Time Trials, I stink.
*EDIT UPDATE*
YESSSSS!!!! I did it!!!! I unlocked the fast staff ghost for Rainbow Road! Woot! On my first try I woulda been about 10 or 15 seconds ahead of Rosalina if I hadn't fallen off, but on the last try I was only 5 seconds ahead. Oh well, all I care about is that I unlocked that fast staff ghost and got the Mii (Outfit B)! Yay! Now all I need is Aero Glider and I will have everything except for stars next to my name during online play.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
Great job, Darkwolf!
I decided to do the Fast Staff Ghosts of Wario's Gold Mine and Yoshi Falls (DS), and beat them both within the course of an hour of tries... with much frustration due to Wario's Gold Mine. Here's a tip - don't use the shortcut in Wario's Gold Mine when doing time trials. A mushroom on the normal path is better if you use it at the right time. The main reason it's so frustrating is that the course is so linear that there really isn't much you can do to gain a good edge. For Yoshi Falls, use the mushroom at the first waterfall - that's what I did, and it worked.
DarkWolf
Bloody the Marro Stinger wrote:

For the normal staff ghost on Yoshi Falls, when I tried mushrooms to go across the first waterfall, for some reason it didn't work very well. I did better when I used it on the last waterfall though, and beat him on 4 seconds, as I had said a couple posts above with all the EDIT UPDATES.
I know you were talking about the fast staff ghosts, though.
Bloody the Marro Stinger
It was the opposite for me - at least on the Fast Staff Ghost. The thing that worked for me was to bring a Shooting Star in with Rosalina or Funky (the drift isn't as good as a mastered Bullet Bike drift, sure, but on this course the regular drift is better... for me, at least. Not only that, but with Funky or Rosalina it beats the max speed rating on the Bullet Bike... barely, but it does. The Bullet Bike still outspeeds it initially, but you use your mushroom so early here it doesn't matter). My path was as follows: start with a wheelie, use a mushroom over the first fall still using your wheelie, and drift immediately after, and then power slide up the curve. Use the regular path on the second waterfall (for obvious reasons), using your power slide to make your wheelie faster (more on this later), and take the first booster pad you see like you say - but do it while using a drift. When it you lose the boost from the pad, release the power slide, start a wheelie, and you should be past the waterfall. Wheelie to the next pad, and hold your drift while you go over the next two booster pads and wheelie past the finish line.
Why did this work for me better than the strategy you used? I usually found that using a mushroom at the third waterfall was a waste of time - you don't get the full effect of it there since you hit a booster pad before it finishes. Not only that, but while the waterfall does slow you down, you return to normal the second you get back to normal ground, and even if it did slow you down significantly, you return to top speed when you hit the booster pad a couple of milliseconds after. Meanwhile, there is no such booster pad after the first waterfall, and you get to top speed far faster if you use a mushroom early instead of later, as well as getting you in the perfect posistion to start a power slide.
And is it just me, or do I go faster with my Wheelies right after I do them with a power slide? If I start it during the boost gained from the power slide, I seem to go a tad faster than if I didn't do it from a power slide... it seems to be minor, but it's there.
MetaNite
Has anyone tried the tournament? I got 1:57 seconds! It's above average but not the best.
Elffy
I can't wait for June 13 so I can buy this Fracking game already. Arg!
Bloody the Marro Stinger
I would try the tournament if I had Wi-Fi. But I don't, sadly.
On a more positive note, two more Fast Staff Ghosts are beaten - Luigi Circuit and Mushroom Ridge (I did the former with the Spear and beat him by 2 seconds... as well as Mushroom Ridge). Seriously, both of them are extremely easy. Heroic Monkey and Darkwolf can easily trounce the opponent on Luigi Circuit with the Bullet Bike (and trust me, I know - the Spear has the exact same drift type), while Mushroom Ridge is beaten extremely easily by any bike once you know where to use your mushroom... period. That's 11 Fast Staff Ghosts beaten on my file for now.
Heroic Monkey
Keep up the good work, Bloody. Pretty soon you'll be rewarded with Mii Outfit B:
