Mad Movie Reviews

So I think I'm going to start a thread just for my own brief movie reviews.  During my free time, I'll give my own opinion on a new movie I've seen (only new movies though, like at the theater or new dvd release)  Oh, and I must warn SPOILERS will not be held in, so if you don't wan't to see any spoilers, click your back button now.

The Incredible Hulk
Edward Norton, Tim Roth

Ok, so this is supposed to be a "reboot" of the last one, Hulk 2003.  But it seemed more like... a sequal better than the original.  Lets face it, the last movie was pretty cruddy.  I went in knowing only one thing about the movie, and that was Abomination being in the film, so other than that, I managed to keep myself spoiler free for this movie.  I also went in expecting it to be mediocre, nothing compared to Irion Man.  But I was willing to give it a shot.
So for a plot out line:  Banner is in search of a cure in Brazil, however once the U.S. government locates him, they attempt to sieze him.  Banner escapes back into the states and finds his loved one and eventually, a "cure".  Meanwhile, General Ross introduces Blonsky, a tough soldier, to the "Super Soldier" program, the same that created Captain America.  This makes Blonsky... well... a super soldier, but it isn't enough for him, and he eventually mixes his own dna with that of the Hulk's, morphing him into an abomination.

Pros
-Good FX, although its hard to find a movie these days that don't have good FX.  Hulk seemed real enough, not perfect, but he didn't look like a cartoon either.
-Acting was pretty good, especially from the lead characters (as it should)
-Introducing a great villian, Abomination.  I thought he was just as cool before he transformed as after.
-Great cameos from Stan Lee, Lou Ferrigno, and even Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Tony Stark.
-Enough action for you, period.  Watching Hulk tear up a helicopter frikkin rox.
-Best line, "It could be... an abomination..."

Cons
-Promotes itself as a remake, turns out to be a sequal.  I took my girlfriend with me to see this movie, she knows knows very little about the Hulk, and so I though with this being a remake, it would tell the story of him becoming the Hulk again.  I was wrong, and she was very lost in the beggining.
-My biggest beef with the film is how fikkin' loud it was.  Some people don't notice, some people don't care, but my girlfriend and I were looking at eachother like "My gosh, my head is about to explode!"  I could not stand the explosions one after another, played at the same time you hear the Hulk screaming.
-Simplistic story.  Perhaps this should go in the cons, I mean, maybe there isn't a whole lot you can do with the Hulk.  You could pretty much assume that it would be about him running from the government while trying to control/get rid of the Hulk, along with his girl, and is going to help his persuers defeat a new threat in the end.

All in all, its not a bad film.  Leaps beyond its predecessor.  But at the same time, its a bit to simple for my taste.
6 out of 10
You know what... I enjoyed the last scene of the movie so much (with Stark) that I'll make it 6 1/2

Leave your own opinions below!
Shades fan

I thought it more of a 8 than a 6.
The sound thing, isn't the movies fault, it's the theaters fault.

I went to see it, and thought it was fantastic.
Norton has been a good actor from his first movie, and there's no diffrence here.
The writing was great, and if they told the original story, it would have held back the story, and made it horrible to sit through.
The origin is told in a fascinating montage that literally starts before the movie itself actually begins  there's no time wasted in details, and that's fine, because I'm betting most of the viewers know a little something about The Hulk.
Is i t as good as Iron Man, no, but it is a really good movie still.

I just can't wait for Dark Knight!

I agree that it was much better than the original.  However, the story was simplistic, and I felt that only Ed Norton really delivered.  I especially thought Tim Roth's acting was terrible.  On the plus side, the fight with Abomination was good, as was Norton's performance (You won't like me when I'm hungry!).  I also like how they left Abomination alive for a possibble team-up with the Leader in the sequel.

2.5 out of 4 stars

Yeah, I agree with Shades, 8 out of 10...

That's your favorite line? Mine is:
Spoiler:

"Don't make me hungry... you won't like me when I'm... hungry."

I liked how they mixed in some other marvel stuff... makes it more of an enjoyable marvel movie... like the Super Soldier stuff they were talking about that happened first in WW2 (Captain America got a Super Soldier Serum and he served in WW2 ) and at the beginning with the flashes it showed Stark Industries and had Tony Stark at the end. I liked those parts...

Great movie. Really enjoyed it. Seeing the commercials, the Hulk looked very strange, but you get used to it when you watch the movie.
Heh.. I also liked the part when
Spoiler:

he (Bruce Banner) jumps out the helicopter and closes his eyes, nothing happens, he opens them and says "Oh crap.." or something like that and then smashes right through the ground.

But yeah, I give it 8/10. Great movie, you should watch it if you haven't already.

Favorite line was the Abomination foreshadowing one.  And Roth's performance wasn't all that bad imo.

That was a good movie. One of my favorites. Way better than Iron Man, but seemed kind of short. 9.25/11
