At first I thought it was Rukia... but it's not.

However, you HAVE inspired me to have a series of Miyazaki avatars. Start to finish, every one of his feature films.

Best Zelda other than A Link to the Past, as far as I'm concerned. Gah. SO fantastic... it's the Castle in the Sky of the Zelda world.

And Ganon... meh. I thought he was easy. BUT! He had a personality! A MOTIVE! HOLY CRAP! GANON WAS ACTUALLY A LEGITIMATE CHARACTER, NOT JUST A RANDOM EVIL DUDE!

...too bad they threw all of that development away in Twilight Princess.

Link to the Past was kinda boring to me, really. Still a good game, but it felt kind of tedious. And in WW, Ganon still is pretty much the same, but they just brought it out better. In TP, they wanted to keep him pretty much hidden until the end. That doesn't give a while lot of room for character development, but they gave him his good ol' motives just the same. In the meantime, we got an incredibly awesome villain to stand in for him while he's on break. Zant is my favorite Zelda villain other than Ganon. Heck, one of my favorite video game villains, I think.

Zant sucks. Sucks HARD. But it makes him an awesome villain. He's not sympathetic, he's not badass... he's just a lame, selfish jerk. I hate his guts. And as such, he makes a fantastic villain.

And actually, Wind Waker Ganon is much, MUCH more intelligent than all of the others. Until he loses the Triforce, anyways... then he snaps. Doesn't underestimate Link or Zelda, plans very deliberately, keeps himself secretive... compared to OoT Ganondorf, he's a genius.

Then there's his story. Before, Ganon invaded Hyrule because he wanted power. He's not doing it for anyone but himself... but in WW, you see him as a leader. He wants a better life for his people. Makes him very sympathetic.

Hey, who do you think would win in a fight, the Green Goblin or The Joker? I mean, the Joker has a lot more tricks up his sleeve, but Gobbie's got fancier tech and is probably a lot stronger...

Well, Dr. Octopus would probably beat him, too, but Joker's still the best.

No powers, just a homicidal maniac that scares children. I've found no one cooler than him.

It's funny how Batman is DC, not Marvel....  

I don't really read comics, either. I used to read some Spider-man, but I got bored of them. I'll stick with the movies.

I used to read Ultimate Spiderman, but eventually all the good plot lines are used up and they start using things like, Spiderman becomes a vampire, Spiderman has 100 clones, Spiderman goes the the center of the earth    So I gave up on that too.

Other than Shonen Jump, I never read comics unless my Great Aunt gets me some on Free Comic Book Day (which she did, Spider-Man and Iron Man. And Jughead.)

However, I did recently buy Batman: The Long Halloween, which is a full out graphic novel. Good stuff.

On the random subject of villians, Joker > 2 face; Joker < Darth Vader; Joker < Venom

Joker is definately the most relentless, surprising, humorous, and memorable villain there is but he's not the best. He has no real power, which is why I like him. He shows that semi-ordinary loons can actually be famous.

His only "power" is that when he fell into the pit of lava, it made him age slower and him more "durable". He'll live longer basically.

Yes.

But Venom's just a generic alien bad guy.

Joker has no powers; he's a homicidal maniac, and pretty much a mob boss. He's much more realistic, and that's why I've always liked Batman. He's more in the real world.

(Just forget about Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze, though.   )

Really? The reason I like Batman is because it's so darn over-the-top. I mean, a guy's parents are murdered, and in his world, the only logical thing is to spend years travelling around the world training, coming to the city, and beating up wacky criminals dressed as a giant bat.

Batman himself is, yes. But the villains have much more depth and realism.

Watch Batman Begins, again. Scarecrow is just a psychologist. (An insane one, but...) He's not a mutant alien from planet XZYP. He's just a dude.

Now, the technology is very fake, but Batman has aways felt much more real than any Marvel heroes.


But other than Batman, I don't like DC.

Batman > Marvel > Rest of DC

Alright, let's see... Joker. Get rid of all the backstory - look at him from a purely superficial standpoint. He's a guy that dresses like a clown with a variety of clown-themed weapons that robs banks and steals candy from small children.

The Riddler - a mental unbalanced guy who's only mission in life is to outsmart a man in a batsuit with riddles and silly traps.

Poison Ivy - a sexy plant lady that loves the enviroment and fights to protect it with plants that attack things.

Is there depth to all of these characters? Obviously. But when conceptualized, they were just silly comic characters, and the industry will never begin to break that mold. It's silly, over-the-top, and through all the angst and drama, is just a childish good vs. evil story.

Not all of his villains are good. I rate Riddler and Ivy at the bottom.

Ra's Al Ghul (?), Scarecrow, Joker, and Two-Face are the really good ones. And isn't it ironic that they chose them for the new movies?

Ra's Al Ghul was the the most realistic. In the comics, he was really immortal, the same guy couldn't die, but in the movie, they just passed the name along. The fact that he is like a martial arts man from the foreign lands of Tibet makes sense. He has his own whole religion going on.

Joker, is crazy. That's all there is to it. The Penguin, I don't even want to start with him...

Catwomen... I agree with what johnny said. Batman was meant to be for kids. It has evolved, but its still for kids mostly. As far as Batman's stuff, he's a billionaire who can buy anything. They do have some stuff like that, the armor and car and all, which would be for the army, but is too expensive and I don't think anybody really wants a tank that takes up 3 parking spaces.

Spider man is no different. Green Goblin? Super spiders? Lizardman? Scorpion?

X-Men, okay... a little closer. X-Men was invented for kids to see why being predjudice is bad. It was made in the 60's around the time of MLK and such. X-Men were like the black people. The mutant thing was still a little weird.

Now, Punisher. He is not outlandish like most other superheroes.

Alright...

Ra's Al Ghul? ...can't say I know much about him other than his name.

Scarecrow is VERY silly. A big scary man that dresses like a scarecrow and tries to scare people. He's like the bad guy to a Halloween special that's defeated by giving him candy.

Joker? I talked about him before.

Two-Face is a guy that milks a theme. He's crazy, has a face with two parts, has a suit that's two colors, and puts all of his decisions on a coin flip.

See what I'm going for? I know that Two-Face can be characterized brilliantly and be a sympathetic character. But think of this - if I tried hard, I could make Cyprien Esenwein a violent, bloodthirsty monster. But no matter how he's written, he's still just a little plastic figure, and no matter how the Joker is written, he's still a bank robber with a clown gimmick.

I feel bad about saying goodbye to Ganondorf so fast... but I just finished watching Paranoia Agent, and what can I say, it's the best thing ever.

Satoshi Kon is a master. I think. Need to see more of his work before I can judge.
