Nintendo might end up being forced to ban its Gamecube controllers.

This ticks me off.

Yeah. I saw this about a week ago at a friend's house when he saw it while lookng for Wii controler programs.
The Gamecube controller at least was last gen and I can see it as not being to bad to have banned.(Since it just means you can't buy new ones) THough the Classic controler....how can they ban that? What about the VS? It makes a lot of those games unable to play.
At least they can only ban new ones. because I'm still playing with my WaveBird banned or not.

The problem is that controllers don't last forever. If they ban them then people can't play Melee/Brawl (you'd have to adjust to a new controller scheme). I've worn out three GC controllers, and the last two are losing the rubber on the joysticks.

It would just be a bummer to not be able to play GC games... and obviously this problem is much more important than the "major issues" that we face such as job loss, failing schools, prohibitively expensive health care, pensions at risk, entitlement programs approaching bankruptcy, rising gas and food prices to name a few.

[has anybody been watching that show?]

Hmm... well I've only be brawling with classic controller, as I never had a GC. It's pretty much the same, and didn't take long for me to get used to.

I take pretty good care of my GameCube Controllers.  I've been wanting to buy a 4th for a while, but I guess NOW is that time.

So do I, but after six or seven years of gaming, six of the seven I've bought have some type of problem, from a wobbly control stick to a VERY stuck A button.

I can get by with some of them, but others are completely unusable. Oddly enough, Nintendo's are the weakest, and 3rd Parties last the longest...

My Wavebird(About 4 years old) is still pretty much perfect and so is 1 of my origional corded GC controllers. Only 1 corded one has a wobbly control stick that always makes it mess up, but it's still useable.

My cousin has two of the first purple ones. One of them got so sticky, it's not even funny. I think one of our littler cousins dipped it in caramel or something... We cleaned it though, and now only the A button, and C-Stick are sticky. The other one is pretty good, only the "L" button fell off.

He has two crappy non-nintendo bulky ones, they suck. He also has a wavebird, but it drifts your character around.

I've had two 3rd party controllers that broke after only a few months. The control sticks were completely shot. Then a friend recommended another brand, and those have worked very well.

I still like the official ones the best, though.

MadCatz.

They feel a bit weird the first time you use them, but you get used to them. Haven't had any problems with them yet.

Yup, MadCatz FTW. I have two (or three) GC controllers from them, and an N64 controller, two. All of them still work. Well, one GC doesn't, but that's because I played it with syrup on my hands and now the A button is stuck down.

That's odd... my MatCatz controller stopped working after a few weeks. Maybe I just got a faulty controller.

I've played with "non-official" controllers for the N64, Gamecube, and PS2, and none of them have lasted longer than a few weeks (well, the N64 one lasted about a year). The worst was the PS2 one... it lasted less than a week, so I just stick to the official controllers from now on.

However, there were young children involved at the time so maybe my observations are skewed. But the official ones were fine...

I only use my GC controller for GC games (the best of which, including melee, were stolen by one of my friend's idotic friends that i would never be friends with; a mouthful, isn't it?). I've been using the Wiimote+Nunchuk combo ever since the game came out.
Edit:I'm also curious why you would bring a long-dead thread back.
